Cookie Policy
Last updated: 22 July 2026. This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on the Ashford Wellness website, why we use them, and how you can manage your preferences.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognise your device on return visits and to store information about your preferences or actions. Similar technologies - including localStorage, sessionStorage, pixels and tracking scripts - may also be used for comparable purposes.
2. Our Consent Framework - Google Consent Mode v2
We implement Google Consent Mode v2 on this website. This means:
- On your first visit, all non-essential cookie categories are set to "denied" by default. No analytics or advertising cookies are placed until you give consent.
- The following consent signals are managed:
ad_storage,ad_user_data,ad_personalization,analytics_storage,functionality_storage,security_storage. functionality_storageandsecurity_storageare granted by default to allow the cookie banner and other essential site functions to operate.- When you choose "Accept All", all signals are updated to "granted" via
gtag('consent','update',{...}). - When you choose "Reject Non-Essential" or save a custom selection, only the categories you have enabled are updated to "granted".
- Your choice is stored in
localStorageunder the keycookieConsentand applied on every subsequent page load. - You may change your preferences at any time via the "Settings" button in the cookie banner. To reset your choice entirely, clear your browser's localStorage for this domain.
3. Categories of Cookies We Use
3.1 Strictly Necessary (Essential)
These cookies are required for the website to function. They do not require your consent under UK PECR / EU ePrivacy.
| Name / Key | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| cookieConsent | Ashford Wellness (localStorage) | Stores your cookie consent preference to avoid showing the banner on every page visit | Persistent (until cleared) |
| PHPSESSID / server session | Ashford Wellness | Maintains server-side session state (honeypot, form tokens) | Session |
3.2 Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website. They are only placed if you have consented.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated number as a client identifier | 2 years |
| _ga_XXXXXXX | Google Analytics 4 | Persists session state for GA4 measurement | 2 years |
| _gid | Google Analytics | Distinguishes users (24-hour version) | 24 hours |
| _gat | Google Analytics | Used to throttle request rate | 1 minute |
Google Analytics data is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. We have enabled IP anonymisation. Data may be transferred to and stored on servers in the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses.
3.3 Marketing / Advertising Cookies
These cookies are used to deliver adverts more relevant to you and your interests, and to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. They are only placed if you have consented.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| _gcl_au | Google Ads / AdSense | Conversion tracking - records whether a user came from an advert and which ad led to a conversion | 3 months |
| IDE | Google DoubleClick | Used by Google's advertising network to record and report actions after viewing or clicking an advertisement | 13 months |
| NID / DSID | Used for remarketing and personalised advertising | 6 months |
3.4 UTM / Tracking Parameters
When you arrive via a tracked link (e.g. ?utm_source=... or ?gclid=...), these parameter values are stored in sessionStorage and pre-filled into hidden form fields for attribution purposes. No cookie is set; the data is cleared when you close your browser tab. This behaviour operates within the consent framework - UTM values in hidden form fields are only submitted if you choose to submit an order form.
4. Third-Party Embeds and External Resources
We load the Plus Jakarta Sans font from Google Fonts via a stylesheet request. This may result in your IP address being transmitted to Google's servers. No cookie is set by Google Fonts itself, but a connection log may be retained by Google. For details, see Google's Privacy Policy.
5. How to Manage Your Cookie Preferences
You have several ways to control cookies:
- Our cookie banner: click "Settings" in the banner to open the preference centre at any time. Use the toggles to enable or disable Analytics and Marketing cookies independently, then click "Save Preferences".
- Browser settings: most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking all cookies may impair the functionality of this and other websites. Instructions vary by browser - consult your browser's help documentation.
- Google opt-out: you can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. You can manage Google ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
- Industry opt-outs: for advertising cookies more broadly, visit youronlinechoices.com (EU) or optout.networkadvertising.org (NAI).
6. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our use of cookies. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page records any revisions. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
